"The Inquiring Friend" by Justin Izlar
You notice I’m on my own, probably sitting in the dorm
But you know I like company, so this is not the norm
At the time, in my head, there was a whole lot of commotion.
So I figured I’d write it because its poetry in motion.
You, being a good friend, want to know what’s the deal?
Is it good? Is it bad? Is it even something real?
So you start to read along, trying to see what’s going on
Trying to see if I’m alright or you should call me on the phone.
I start to talk about my life, and all its ups and downs.
Got a lot of friends who sometimes were no where to be found.
Always got some type of pressure that makes a stronger stressor
Which all builds up to be an even worst depressor
On the other hand, been blessed to where there’s no need to fuss
So thankful for what I have that there’s no need to cuss
Just a simple young man whose content with where he is
A handsome man, many ladies want to have his kids.
You think “he seems to be sad, but yet he’s also content”
So what exactly could be taking all this time that he spent.
You’re reading this whole poem trying to figure it out
Then you think you might have gotten it but you still have doubt
And by the time you hit the end to figure out what I’m discussing
You see I’ve made perfect sense, but I’ve said absolutely nothing...ha
ARE YOU STILL INQUIRING MY FRIEND?
NO ISSUE EVERYBODY! No point in this poem. Just wanted to see how many ppl actually pay attention to whats goin on here...ha
