I had the pleasure of taking care of Justin for many years at Georgetown University Hospital on the pediatric unit. Whenever Justin was my patient, he always had the FUN room. I would always sneak in his room and "pretend" I was working... but really I would just hang out with him and his family/friends. He ALWAYS had a crew of people in his hospital room and was never alone. I could always count on a good laugh, a good song, or big hugs when I went in his room(even though I was a cowboys fan). Justin always kept a positive attitude and was inspiring to everyone he met. He eventually got kicked out of the pediatric unit even though we fought long and hard to keep him there, but he will always belong to C53. I have been an oncology nurse for almost 8 years now, I have never come across such love and support from family and friends as I did with the Izlar family. Their love for music and great sense of humor allowed Justin to get through all the awful chemo and pain that he endured. Its because of people like Justin and his family that I LOVE my job. He is my hero!
