What kind of masks are you wearing?

Have you ever stopped to notice all the fronts that you put on?

And the things you use to do symbolic stunts just to move on?

Acrobatic moves to avoid the runts who've done you wrong

Well I actually took the time to sit down once and see my song

I see I wear many masks, different ones for different seasons

You just might want to call these 'the different faces of reasons' (pun intended)

Yes, they're all different, but work together like a gang.

But none of them are pure breed, sort of like yin and yang.

They all cover the same person. He doesn't change, he's still the same.

Why would I change myself? To be honest, I like my name.

Yes, I have done it just to avoid some shame,

But mainly to change my approach and put myself ahead of the game.

Is wearing a mask really wrong? Well it depends on the purpose.

Just what exactly is going on beneath the surface?

It's really not wrong when fear is the cause of the mask

But you have to eventually face that fear so you can complete your task

It is wrong when it's used to manipulate some people

To build a wall so truth is unseen; they are blinded from evil

In most cases, it's not wrong when it's used for protection

But there's a problem when its protection from your own reflection.

See I wore a mask for many reasons; one was protection for me and my fam

If I am strong, then I can move on, and they said they're only as strong as I am

But with wearing these different masks, I didn't realize all of the risk

So I stopped. I'm transparent. Most of these masks no longer exist.

So please do not mistake this as a sign of my quittance

It's pretty much a part of the start of my admittance

That I am not always successful in my depressions riddance

But because of my mask, you cannot tell the difference

So when you see me don't think I'm faking or that you're being lied to

Because we all know I'm not the only one that this applied to

So to you as the reader, I have a question since you've seen this.

Just how many different masks are you wearing as you read this?
