"Perfect Hand" by Justin Izlar

"How many 'card game' terms do see in this poem? lol"

Most people don't look at life's cards they were dealt.
They just see a bad hand because of emotions they have felt.
So they start to pray for 'wants;' all the things they think they need.
When the fact of the matter is they're just not playing in God’s speed.

You're trying to rush, trying to turn coal into diamonds.
But have you really wondered, "Just what type of game am I in?"
Your methods don't work, so it's a game you can't prepare for.
Take your time, use God's, then you'll be able to say, "I declare war."

People think that their going threw a struggle alone but, you know
Since God adds to the duo then you're never really the lonely uno.
So don't be afraid when you see the next phase that you engage in
You proudly made it from 1 through 9. So gladly move on to phase 10.

For me, It was wild when I through up my deuces, thinking I was leaving this world.
I accepted that fate, though I knew life was more precious than a pearl.
I was smiling but I was bluffing as I lose this game of poker.
But I later realized that I had a full house of jokers.

They were constantly bringing me back. They were my ace in the hole.
Because the jokes and the laughter returned the joy to my soul.
With me only having clubs while playing a game of spades
The joy in my families' hearts kept me on the path God had made.

See it looked like I was losing but it's not what it looks like
Although I had the losing hand, I just had to play my cards right.
When it seemed I was drowning, I didn't see but there was still land.
So I was the victor from the beginning because I was dealt the perfect hand.
